Finding Hope

The garden is designed as a public space where visitors can understand the importance of CALM’s work. Sixteen lives are lost to suicide every day, and each square within the garden represents one of those lives

Show Gardens

The garden

A contemplative garden structured around sixteen squares, each one representing a life lost to suicide every 24 hours. A continuous pathway offers choice – to turn, pause, reflect and reconnect. Through calm planting, gentle movement and quiet spaces, the garden transforms loss into hope, symbolising the lives saved through conversation, intervention and human connection.

A sculpture, Weight of the World, captures the emotional burden carried by those who are struggling, helping to express the feelings that often go unseen.

Inspired by the idea of creating space for reflection, the garden uses natural materials and a restrained planting palette to form a clear, balanced layout. It offers visitors a calm, welcoming environment where simplicity and order encourage pause, contemplation and a gentle sense of wellbeing.

91µ¼º½ the charity –

CALM is a suicide prevention charity that provides life-saving services and practical mental health support to anyone who needs it. CALM’s vision is that no one feels like suicide is their only option, but right now, too many people are struggling to see a way forward. This isn’t just a stat on a page. These are our mums and dads, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, partners and friends. CALM is there to help anyone struggling with life and provide everyone with the skills to help prevent suicide.

The garden legacy

After the show all elements of the garden will be re-used within private projects.
