There’s increasing evidence showing the difference being connected to plants can make to pupil wellbeing, and the RHS Plants for Wellbeing programme aims to help turn this into a practical, whole-school approach. Running from January-June 2027, the programme will give your school the support and resources needed to embed plants into everyday school life through four criteria:
- Every class or form group has cared for an indoor plant in their classroom
- All pupils in at least two year groups have learnt about supporting wellbeing through plants in two or more lessons
- All pupils in at least two year groups have shared plants or seeds with others
- 10 or more pupils have taken the lead in promoting the use of plants to support wellbeing beyond the school (e.g. with families or the local council)
Applications for the RHS Plants for Wellbeing programme 2027 have now closed.
